Tansyflower lay in her dirty nest, grumbling and trying to get comfortable, wondering where that confounded apprentice Birchpaw went off to. She had seen Birchpaw leave camp to collect new moss to replace Tansyflower's current, stinking bedding, but she was still not back.
"Birchpaw!" Tansyflower meowed angrily. She's probably having lots of fun splashing in a pond and skipping by the river bank. Either that, or that mouse-brained apprentice is collecting feathers for her nest again. Sighing, Tansyflower got up and shook herself. Then sat down and glared at the camp entrance, waiting to unleash her wrath.

Birchpaw was strolling through the forest, chasing birds just for fun. Suddenly, she remembered why she was sent out of camp. 'Mousedung, I have to collect moss for Tansyflower!' (sorry I don't know how to do that thingy to make the words all slanty and stuff xD) She quickly collected some moss and sprinted back to the camp. 'Ugh, she's going to be so mad at me,' Birchpaw scowled herself. Almost right then, she heard someone call her name, recognizing it as Tansyflower's voice, sounding angry as usual.
"Coming," she called back, not sure if Tansyflower could even hear her. She ran through the entrance to camp and padded over to the elders, walking in the den. Looking around, she spotted Tansyflower and walked over to her, dropping the moss in front of her nest.
"Sorry I was gone for a while," Birchpaw panted breathlessly, tired from running so fast.

(You just put the words you wanted italicized in between "" brackets. It's called BBCode. ^-^)
"And just what were you doing that took you so long? It's late in newleaf, so there should be plenty of moss!" Tansyflower snapped angrily. She changed her bedding as she talked and flung the dirty moss at Birchpaw. "You can throw that away, fetch me something from the fresh-kill pile, and explain yourself then," She mewed, glaring at the apprentice.

Birchpaw looked at the ground, shuffling her paws, and nodded. She picked up the old moss and walked out of the elders den, sighing through her teeth. She quickly threw the old moss away and padded over to the fresh pile, picking out a fish. Birchpaw made her way back to the den, dropping the prey in front of the elder, still looking at the ground.
(Ohh, okay, thanks. ^^)

Birchpaw jumped, snapped out of her thoughts. "U-uh," she stammered, gulping, "I was um..." She looked at Tansyflower for a few moments and sighed in defeat. "I was messing around in the forest." Birchpaw finally said, hanging her head in shame. "I'm sorry... "

Tansyflower have a furious glare and then mrrowed with laughter. Taking a bite of fish she said, "Ah, well, you should enjoy life while you can." Looking up and swallowing she said, "Would you like to hear a story?"

Birchpaw looked up, her heart lifting with joy, and she jumped a little with glee. "Yeah, sure," she answered, laying down. Once she was comfortable, she gave her full attention to the elder.

Tansyflower cleared her throat and began. "One day I was traveling through a meadow. It was a nice, sunny day and the grass was as golden as honey.
"I soon heard a high-pitched shriek behind me and I spun around, bristling. Then I saw a kit- or at least it was a very small cat- running away from a badger! It was a stocky, but scary thing, with black and white stripes on its face and a large, gray body. I didn't know what that kit had done to make a badger so angry, but I knew I needed to help it. The badger was catching up on it, and it was panting hard.
"So I raced towards the kit as fast as I could. I ran alongside it for a bit, slowing my pace so that I didn't just run right past the slow thing! Then I quickly grabbed its scruff before the badger did, and pelted away as fast as I could.
"I felt like I was running for ages! And it felt like I would feel the terrifying tug of the badger's teeth on my tail at any second. Then I spotted a tree and climbed up it as fast as I could. Thank goodness too; for the kit was struggling in my jaws. I think it thought I was going to eat it."
Tansyflower stopped here to let out a purr of amusement, and then continued.
"I stayed up in that tree, gazing down at that badger as it glared up at me. It seemed to know that it couldn't get us up that tree and it had wasted enough energy chasing the kit, so it lumbered away. But I stayed up that tree a while longer anyway, just to be sure that it was gone for good.
"I placed the kit down and asked what it's name was, but it didn't answer me. So we just sat up in that tree, stiff from running and hungry too.
"I decided to catch us something to eat, so I told the kit to stay up in the tree. I had trouble finding any prey because of all the racket the badger and I had made, so I had to go deeper into the meadow. I spotted a mouse nibbling on a seed, and I stalked up to it as quiet as one of it's own kind. Then I pounced on it and carried it back to the tree. But when I got there, the kit was gone. I guess he must've gotten impatient. I was very sad though, because it was evening when I got back with the mouse. Poor little scrap probably had a hard time that night, with all the night predators up and about."
Tansyflower sighed, her eyes gazing into the distance. She took another bite of fish, swallowed, and then snapped her gaze back on Birchpaw. "Well then?" she said angrily, "What are you hanging around here for? Go on! Shoo! I'm sure you'll be able to find Pebblepaw somewhere around camp."

Birchpaw's eyes widened. "Woah!" She gasped breathlessly looking at Tansyflower. Birchpaw started thinking about the story when she heard the elder snap at her. "Hmm? Oh, sorry, alright." She chuckled, exiting the den. Scanning her surroundings, she caught sight of a scrawny gray cat. "Pebblepaw!" She called, padding over to join him.

Pebblepaw sighed. "I really want to go hunting!" Then he perked up. "Hey, we're apprentices, so that means we can go hunting on our own and stuff, right?" He frowned and said, "Right? I mean, the fresh-kill pile's kinda low..."

Birchpaw nodded. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we can go out hunting without our mentor. Sooo, do you wanna go?" She asked, eyes gleaming with excitement. She hated hunting, but she really wanted to get out of camp.

Pebblepaw purred. "Yes I do! I don't want to sit here in this dull camp all day!"
